Kai Rossnagel from Kiel University and Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY in Hamburg conducted quantum materials research at the new SXP instrument (Soft X-ray Port). The scientific focus of the experiment is on two model interface systems: twisted bilayer MoS₂ and gold nanoparticles on Titanium oxide (TiO₂).
He and his team investigated the effect of destructive interference that can lead to a different set of ultraflat valence and conduction bands in twisted MoS₂ as predicted by theory as well as the physical properties of gold nanoparticles on TiO₂.
